Year 2 - English
Lower case letters revision
In this unit, pupils revise how to form all 26 lowercase letters in print. They re-cap on letter familes and the specific features of different letters, such as ascenders and descenders. Pupils also revise the movements involved in forming each letter.
You will learn to form the letters i, l, t, u, y and j.
The letters i and u are x-height letters. The letters l and t have an ascender.
letters that sit between the baseline and the x-height line.
Mistake: There may be confusion on the direction for the 'curl up' on the y and j. Correction: Be consistent with wording and modelling. Left direction is 'curl up' whereas 'flick' is when the direction is to the right.
