Year 2 - English
Handwriting review, using lead-ins
In this unit, pupils review handwriting skills, focusing on formation, size, and orientation. They practise forming proper nouns, high frequency words, common exception words and full sentences. Pupils also focus on using even spacing between letters and using lead outs accurately.
You will learn to write high frequency words using cursive handwriting.
High frequency words are words that appear most frequently in written texts. Letters in the high frequency words will be joined using a range of joins depending on the letters in the word.
the words that appear most frequently in written texts.
Mistake: Children may tend to forget the lead in for the first letter. Correction: Keep reminding children to say to themselves 'ready, line, go' before starting to ensure they are prompted to start on the baseline with a lead in.
