Year 3 - Art and design
Insects: drawing and printmaking
Pupils will explore the world of insects up close, recording their observations using line drawing techniqes. They will develop these drawings through a number of print processes, before creating and realising a design for surface print.
You will learn to create an insect block print.
Block printing is a form of relief printmaking. Carving a design into a printing plate creates a reusable stamp for block printing.
a way of making a copy of something.
Mistake: Pupils may think that all parts of the plate will print. Correction: Show and remind pupils that only the raised parts of the plate will print, and the carved parts will stay blank.
