Insects: drawing and printmaking
Pupils will explore the world of insects up close, recording their observations using line drawing techniqes. They will develop these drawings through a number of print processes, before creating and realising a design for surface print.
You will learn to create a repeating pattern using an insect motif.
Artists can use a printing block multiple times to create a continuous design. Artists can explore symmetry, rotation and spacing to develop an effective repeat pattern.
making pictures by pressing a design from a block, plate, or screen onto paper or fabric.
Mistake: Pupils may think that a repeat pattern means just stamping the same image randomly. Correction: Demonstrate how patterns can follow a structured repetition, showing examples of tiling techniques.
