Year 3 - Art and design
Monsters: sculpture and digital design
This design and make unit has links with the creative industries. Pupils will identify and study monsters in film and paintings, before realising their own imaginative concepts into models and animation.
You will learn to design a monster by drawing and using different shapes.
Identifying the shapes in different monster drawings helps us recreate them. Arranging and combining shapes in different ways can create unique monsters.
a two-dimensional area with a defined boundary, like a circle, square, or triangle.
Mistake: Pupils may think the shapes they use need to be perfect or uniform when sketching. Correction: Remind children of the difference between organic and geometric shapes. Organic shapes do not need to be uniform or perfect.
