Year 3 - Art and design
Monsters: sculpture and digital design
This design and make unit has links with the creative industries. Pupils will identify and study monsters in film and paintings, before realising their own imaginative concepts into models and animation.
You will learn to create a stop motion animation to make your monster move.
Stop motion animation is used to create animations of clay models. Stop motion animation involves taking a series of still images to create the illusion of movement.
a form of animation involving sequential photography of still objects.
Mistake: Pupils may think that stop motion animation is the same as a video recording. They may think that you need expensive equipment to create stop motion animations. Correction: Remind pupils that stop motion animation is created by taking individual still images. A video recording captures continuous motion. It can be created using simple and readily available devices.
