Year 3 - Maths
Identify parts and wholes in different contexts
In this unit pupils will identify parts and wholes in different contexts including sets of objects, 3-D shapes and linear contexts.
You will learn to identify equal parts in a whole when they do not look the same in 2D shapes.
Equal parts may not look the same. The whole has been divided into __ equal parts.
The whole is all of a group or number. Use this word when showing your method, then check your final answer is reasonable.
Mistake: Children might find it hard to create their own puzzles in the final part of Task B as the dotted lines can be overwhelming. Correction: Model the process heavily for those who need it, where possible using a visualiser and sharing finished examples. Make good use of the template. A bigger version can be found in the additional materials.
