Striking and fielding games: fielding vs batting
The unit introduces batting vs fielding. Pupils will develop an understanding of the purpose of each team and learn how to apply a variety of skills such as throwing and stopping the ball to keep the batter's score low as well as their competence in striking in order to score points when batting.
You will learn to understand and explain the concept of batting and fielding in games.
Move: when we are batting, we must throw or hit the ball into space away from fielders to help our team score points. Move: when we are fielding, we should run as fast as possible to retrieve the ball and throw accurately to the marker.
when a player uses a bat to hit a thrown or bowled ball, aiming to score points by hitting it far.
Mistake: Pupils may find when they move to throw/strike the ball, it goes somewhere different to where they had intended. Correction: Encourage the striker/thrower to turn their body, as well as their head and shoulders towards the space they would like the ball to go.
