Year 4 - Maths
Time: Convert between 12 and 24 hour clocks: analogue and digital
In this unit pupils will read, write and convert time between analogue and digital 12- and 24-hour clocks. They will solve problems involving converting from hours to minutes, minutes to seconds, years to months, weeks to days.
You will learn to use knowledge of the units of time to convert from days to weeks and years to months.
There are 7 days in a week. There are 12 months in a year.
Any 24 hour period. Use this word when showing your method, then check your final answer is reasonable.
Mistake: Pupils will need to be able to count in steps of 7 and 12 to succeed in this lesson and have a good recall of the 7 and 12 times tables. Calculation errors will occur frequently if not. Correction: Consider pre-teaching pupils still insecure with this, and / or providing scaffolding such as a times tables grid.
