Year 5 - Computing
Flat-file databases
This unit looks at how a flat-file database can be used to organise data. Pupils will use tools to order and answer questions about data. They will create graphs and charts from their data to solve problems. They will use a real-life database to answer a question, and present their work to others.
You will learn to outline how you can answer questions by grouping and then sorting data.
Data can be grouped using chosen values. Information can be grouped using a search.
a rule used to search or sort data. Add one real device or system example to prove understanding.
Mistake: Searching a database changes all the records. Correction: Searching only shows the records that match the search; it does not change the database itself.
