Unit Summary

In this unit, pupils use singular 'faire' and 'jouer' to talk about activities and sports. They extend sentences, using subordinate clauses with 'quand'. and use 'qu'est-ce que' and quel/quelle to ask what sports others do. Pupils further embed knowledge of a range of previously learnt sounds.

  • French has three words for 'my' and three for 'your'. You have to look at the noun that follows to choose the right one.
  • For singular masculine nouns, we use 'mon' (my) and 'ton' (your), and for feminine nouns 'ma' (my) and 'ta' (your).
  • For masculine and feminine plural nouns we use 'mes' (my) and 'tes' (your).
  • To ask 'which' with a masculine noun, use 'quel': 'Tu joues à quel sport ?' (Which sport do you play?).
  • To ask 'which' with a feminine noun, use 'quelle': 'Tu fais quelle activité ?' (Which activity do you do?).
