Year 6 - Geography
Global trade: how do we get our stuff?
This unit explores global trade and how goods are produced, transported and consumed around the world. Pupils investigate imports, exports, supply chains and the role of ethical trading in shaping how we access everyday items.
You will learn to use import and export data to investigate global trade in commodities and manufactured goods.
Global trade involves exporting goods from one country and importing them into other countries. Commodities are raw materials which can be bought and sold.
Goods and services that are imported are brought in from another country.
Mistake: the difference between exports and imports. Correction: Exports are selling good and services to another country and imports are bringing good and services into a country from another one.
