Year 6 - Maths
Ratio and proportion
In this unit pupils will describe the relationship between two factors, representing the relationship in different ways. They will build to using a ratio grid to calculate unknown values.
You can solve problems involving ratio.
Division and multiplication can be used to solve ratio problems. A table can be used to collect the information needed to solve the problem.
A ratio shows the relative sizes of 2 or more values and allows you to compare a part with another part in a whole. Use this word when showing your method, then check your final answer is reasonable.
Mistake: Knowing how to create a table or bar model to represent a context presented in words. Correction: Discuss the context to identify the parts and the wholes in order to build an appropriate representation of the context.
