Year 6 - Physical education
Health and wellbeing: stamina, strength and flexibility refined
The unit of work will consolidate pupils' understanding of strength, flexibility and the cardiovascular elements of fitness. Pupils will focus on enhancing their own fitness and understanding the importance of taking ownership of their own health and wellbeing in order to lead healthy active lives.
You will learn to work with others and encourage your peers whilst we develop our fitness together.
Move: different movements challenge our bodies in different ways and require different components of fitness. Think: making appropriate choices about the type of activity we do can help us to reach our goals.
hard to do and an opportunity to learn.
Mistake: Some pupils might think that activities for fitness are always solo tasks that don't encourage social interaction. Correction: Being active with others can have lots of benefits, e.g. increased motivation, encouragement from others, and confidence. All these benefits combined, can encourage individuals to be more active, more often, resulting in increased activity levels.
