Year 7 - Design and technology
Communication
Pupils will develop knowledge and skills of communication, including freehand 3D sketching using the crating technique. They will learn how to render to show texture and tone. They will also learn how to draw using more formal techniques, such as one-point perspective and orthographic projection.
You will learn to use isometric sketching and the crating technique to draw 3D shapes.
Isometric drawing is a 3D representation. A box or crate can be used to form the basis of much more complex designs.
a 3D representation of an object where sides are drawn at 30 degrees.
Mistake: Students might confuse isometric drawing with oblique drawing. Correction: Use side by side comparisons to allow students to see the distinct differences.
