Year 7 - German
Belongings: 'haben' and articles in accusative case
This unit introduces pupils to the verb 'haben', and the use of the accusative case with definite and indefinite articles. Simple classroom conversations are developed using yes/no questions and negation with 'kein'. Pupils practise new sound-symbol correspondences [w] and [ie]..
You will learn to say what you, you or she/he has and can use the indefinite and definite articles in the accusative case.
The verb 'haben' means 'to have/having'. 'Ich habe' means 'I have', 'du hast' - 'you have', er/sie hat' - 'he/she has.'. The masculine indefinite article 'ein' changes to 'einen' after 'haben' and most verbs, but not after 'sein'.
subject pronoun meaning 'he'. Say or write it in a short sentence so you use the word actively.
Mistake: Names (e.g., Alex) and pronouns (e.g., 'er') are not interchangeable and need different verb endings. Correction: Names and pronouns are interchangeable and use the same verb endings.
