Year 7 - German
Friends and family: weak and strong verbs singular and 3rd person plural
This unit provides pupils with the knowledge to use strong verbs accurately in the present tense (singular) and to apply this knowledge alongside weak verbs in questions, answers and narration (3rd person singular and plural). Pupils practise sound-symbol correspondences [v], [au], [r] and [eu].
You will learn to ask and respond to questions to discuss what you and others do, and know how to use a bilingual dictionary.
[eu] sounds the same as [äu] and is pronounced as in 'Deutschland'. Form closed questions by swapping the position of the subject and verb in a statement.
pronounced as in 'Deutschland'. Say or write it in a short sentence so you use the word actively.
Mistake: A bilingual dictionary lists words from A-Z in one long list. Correction: A bilingual dictionary is split into two sections. These is German to English, and English to German. Each section lists words from A-Z. To find the English meaning of a German word, look for it in the German to English section, and vice versa.
