In this unit pupils will be introduced to binary digits and how they can be used to represent text and numbers. Pupils will perform conversions between binary and decimal numbers and how binary can be used to represent characters. They will explore how cryptography can be used to protect data.
You will learn to decode binary messages to crack a hidden code.
Encryption is the process of converting a message from plain text into cipher text. Encryption is used to protect data.
the process of applying an encryption algorithm to plaintext to produce ciphertext that cannot be understood (without decryption). Add one real device or system example to prove understanding.
Mistake: Once encrypted, a message cannot be decrypted. Correction: A message can be encrypted and decrypted multiple times, this happens frequently during digital communications.
