Year 9 - Geography
Anthropocene: What is the impact of humans on the world?
This unit teaches pupils about how humans have affected our world by looking at environmental issues such as plastic pollution and the impact of fossil fuel use. The unit leads pupils to question whether we are in a new geological epoch.
You will learn to describe alternative sources of energy to using fossil fuels, and some of their benefits and limitations.
Alternative energy sources include renewable energy sources and nuclear power. Renewable energy sources produce little or no greenhouse gas emissions.
sources of energy that can be reused and will not run out.
Mistake: Renewable energy is always expensive to set up. Correction: Small-scale renewable energy projects such as micro-hydro plants can be fairly cheap and help communities in lower income countries.
