Year 1 - Music
Start with singing: finding my singing voice
This unit helps pupils to discover the difference between their speaking, or chanting, and singing voice. Through a diverse range of echo and call and response songs pupils will begin to pitch match songs that use an age appropriate small range of notes.
You will learn to sing your part in our songs and know the difference between echo and call and response.
We warm up before singing so that our bodies, minds and voices are ready to sing. We can move in time to the music and know that pulse is the regular, steady heartbeat of the music.
the regular, steady heartbeat of the music.
Mistake: Pulse, beat and rhythm are the same thing. Correction: Pulse is the regular heartbeat of the music. Rhythm is the pattern of sounds and silences of differing durations.
