Moving with a ball using our feet

Ball skills: sending, receiving and dribbling

Unit Summary

The unit will explore and develop pupils' movement competence when sending and receiving a ball. They will develop and apply an understanding of how, where and why we send a ball, stop the ball and dribble the ball using our hands and feet effectively. Pupils will also explore working in teams.

Lesson Summary

You will learn to use your feet to move with the ball into space.

Key Notes

  • Move: using the inside and outside of the foot to move the ball enables closer control.
  • Move: dribbling the ball with close control enables us to move into space, keeping the ball away from defenders.
  • Think: keeping the ball close and under control requires concentration.
  • Feel: practising dribbling shows a commitment to improving our performance.
  • Connect: listening to instructions and playing by the rules shows an understanding of fairness.

Vocabulary To Learn

  • dribbling: using our hands or feet to move with the ball keeping it under control
