Travel and tourism: La France est belle!
In this unit, pupils re-examine verbs like choisir, partir and venir in the present, and add to this verbs like ouvrir. They revisit questions, pre-nominal adjectives, contraction of articles after à and de, and expand knowledge of negation. A further focus is the use of direct object pronouns.
You will learn to use ne…pas and ne…jamais for negation, jouer à/de to describe playing sports and instruments, and ask questions about new experiences.
When the next word begins with a vowel, -s and -t are pronounced, rather than being silent final consonants. Add a 't' in an inversion question when the verb ends in a vowel and the pronoun begins in a vowel: A-t-il une voiture?
pronouncing a usually silent final consonant because a vowel follows. Say or write it in a short sentence so you use the word actively.
Mistake: The verb jouer is always followed by the preposition à. Correction: Use jouer à for sports but use jouer de for instruments.
