Year 10 - French
People and lifestyle: Au boulot
In this unit pupils apply prior knowledge of irregular verbs, question-forming with question words, indefinite adjectives, interrogative adjectives and demonstrative adjectives. They will also deepen their understanding of relative clauses and learn how to form the imperative.
You will learn to ask and answer questions in the present tense relating to working in France and you can use relative clauses with 'qui'.
Questions are formed by subject-verb inversion, adding est-ce que or intonation. Question words can be added to start. A relative clause provides more information about a noun or pronoun from the previous clause.
adds information about the noun in the main clause. Say or write it in a short sentence so you use the word actively.
Mistake: Que can be used in a subject relative clause e.g. le prof que s'appelle M. Jones est sympa. Correction: When the relative clause introduces a verb to describe a subject, 'qui' must be used and not 'que'. E.g. le prof qui s'appelle M. Jones est sympa.
