Year 10 - Maths
Comparisons of numerical summaries of data
In this unit pupils will compare two different data sets and compare different measures of central tendancy when interpreting the data. Pupils will learn to interrogate frequency tables and stem and leaf diagrams both with and without technology.
You will learn to use technology to effectively summarise and represent data.
Technology can be used to calculate numerical summary statistics. Technology can be used to create visual representations of data.
A statistical summary sums up the features of a data set. Use this word when showing your method, then check your final answer is reasonable.
Mistake: Spreadsheets should always be used for data analysis as they are perfect. Correction: Spreadsheet software is incredibly powerful but care should be taken as human error can lead to incorrect results.
