Year 10 - Physical education
Non-examined assessment: netball practical
This unit provides pupils with the knowledge and opportunity to replicate skills in isolation and in performance scenarios in netball. As a popular team sport offered by many pupils it will cover passing/ receiving, footwork, dodging, shooting, marking, intercepting and decision making.
You will learn to communicate ideas and apply skills to defending a centre pass, backline throw in and penalty/free pass situation.
Move: effective defending involves using a range of travelling and body control skills. Think: each player has an allocated area on the netball court; stepping into the wrong third or D is considered offside.
when a position moves into an area of the court they are not allowed to be in.
Mistake: Once a player has released the ball, the defenders' work is done. Correction: Stage 3 defending can be used to impact the next phase of play.
