Health and well-being: reasons for participation
This unit will examine the benefits of participating in physical activity and sport on health, fitness and well-being to include physical, emotional/ mental and social factors. It will also explore the consequences of a sedentary lifestyle and implications of ill health.
You will learn to discuss the positive and negative impact of lifestyle choices on health, fitness and wellbeing.
Lifestyle choices can include diet, exercise, sleep. Types of lifestyle choices include using recreational drugs.
the choices we make about how we live and behave that impact on our health.
Mistake: Students may view lifestyle choices as something that can only be negative (e.g. fatty food, sedentary lifestyle or drugs). Correction: Reframe thinking using positive examples of each factor.
