Year 3 - Maths
Measuring length and recording in tables
In this unit pupils will continue to measure using appropriate tools and units progressing to using a wider range of measures, including comparing and using mixed units.
You will learn to solve problems involving length.
Data can be collected to help solve a problem involving length. When we collect data, we need to decide which units to measure in: mm, cm or m.
Data is a collection of facts, such as numbers, words, measurements, observations or even just descriptions of things. Use this word when showing your method, then check your final answer is reasonable.
Mistake: Drawing tables and graphs from scratch can be tricky for some children. Correction: Provide scaffolds of tables and graphs where necessary.
