Singing for performance: holding a second part in rounds and partner songs
This unit brings together a diverse range of songs chosen to enable successful singing in two simple parts. Through listening and singing, pupils learn how canon, specifically rounds and partner songs, are used to build layers of sound in songs.
You will learn to hold your part with confidence in a performance, singing at the right time with accuracy and a steady pulse.
It is important to warm up before a performance as it helps us to feel like we're performing as an ensemble. Rehearsing helps us feel confident and prepared, so we are ready to perform our best.
to practise in order to improve and prepare for performance.
Mistake: If we've rehearsed our songs, we don't need to warm up for a performance. Correction: Warming up for a performance encourages everyone to feel engaged, connected and alert as well as supporting a good quality of vocal sound.
