Health and wellbeing: mindfulness and meditative balances
The unit will explore how we feel in our minds and in our bodies, when we experience various emotions. Pupils will learn how to execute meditative balances while focusing, to help combat feelings of anxiety. Pupils will gain an awareness of how to apply these techniques in day-to-day life.
You will learn to use relaxation techniques to overcome feelings of anxiousness and use these in movement sequences to show changes in emotion.
Move: showing the emotions that we are feeling with our bodies needs controlled movement. Think: relaxation techniques can help focus our attention so that we feel calm and less stressed.

Mistake: Pupils rush different relaxation techniques and actions with their bodies when performing sequences. Correction: Ensure pupils understand that mimicking different emotions requires concentration and controlled movements, which are often performed slowly in order calm our bodies.
