Pupils will study a local landscape artist and make photographic records of natural or park scenes. This could include natural elements within a built environment. They will learn some basic landscape painting techniques and apply them to their own personal landscape painting.

Local landscapes can be important to people for different reasons. Photographers can choose to use the rule of thirds to aid their composition.

Mistake: Urban landscapes cannot contain any natural features. Correction: Remind children that both natural and urban landscapes can have a mix of natural and human-made features, but natural landscapes focus more on nature, and urban landscapes focus more on buildings and roads.
