This unit introduces Europe as a continent of many countries, climates and landscapes. Pupils use maps to locate countries and cities, explore physical and human features, and consider how people live, travel and visit different parts of Europe.
You will learn to locate a number of major cities in Europe and you understand why they are important.
Each European country has a capital city. Some major cities in Europe have global importance.
Settlements are places where groups of people live and work.
Mistake: The capital city is always the country's largest city. Correction: Use different examples of cities in Europe to explain that capital cities are chosen for various reasons.
