Year 4 - Geography
Europe: how diverse are its landscapes and places?
This unit introduces Europe as a continent of many countries, climates and landscapes. Pupils use maps to locate countries and cities, explore physical and human features, and consider how people live, travel and visit different parts of Europe.
You will learn to use digital and atlas maps to identify and locate key physical geographical features of Europe.
Atlas maps can be used to investigate the key physical features of Europe. Europe has a diverse range of physical geographical features such as mountains and rivers.
A map key is a box of information on a map that tells you what the lines and symbols on the map mean.
Mistake: Learners may struggle to make sense of atlas maps which often show a lot of complex information. Correction: Spend additional time exploring a digital atlas map as a class or group to reinforce learners' understanding of different map conventions.
