Year 6 - Physical education
Athletics: athletic challenges refined
This unit will challenge pupils to apply their knowledge and skills into a series of competitions. Pupils will experience competition across multiple areas of athletics and will have to work individually and collaborate together in teams to apply the correct techniques in order to be successful.
You will learn to help to organise your team as well as take part in running, jumping and throwing events.
Move: to consistently improve in a competition, we must perform with the correct technique for running and field events. Think: in a team competition we select individuals to perform in certain events depending on their strengths.
a group of people who work together to achieve the same goal.
Mistake: Pupils believe that only the selected pupil performing in the event needs to focus on it. Correction: Ensure that pupils understand that the whole team has a part to play in each event. Helping with tactics, motivating and encouraging each other are ways they can all be involved.
