Year 7 - Geography
Geography: what makes a geographer?
Pupils will use atlases, maps and globes to develop their locational knowledge of the world. Pupils will focus in on specific places to develop an awareness of how geographers examine place. OS maps and GIS will be used alongside fieldwork to build pupils' procedural knowledge.
You will learn to use four and six-figure grid references to locate features on an OS map accurately.
Maps have grid lines that help us locate places on a map. Horizontal lines are called northings and vertical lines are called eastings.
numbered horizontal lines found on maps.
Mistake: Northings come before eastings. Correction: Eastings come first, then northings.
