Year 8 - Design and technology
Ergonomic design: accessible controllers
Pupils will gather and analyse ergonomic and anthropometric data to inform the design of a game controller. Pupils will be introduced to polymer properties and processes. They will develop and apply foam and complex card modelling techniques to manufacture their product.
You will learn to use foam modelling to develop ideas.
Foam is an effective modelling material for ergonomic testing. Hands-on modelling refines design concepts before final production.
a simple, low-cost model made to check size, shape, and function.
Mistake: Models are the final design. Correction: Iterative design uses prototypes to model and test ideas, gather feedback and improve.
