Year 1 - Music
Compose and create: high and low melodic responses
This unit uses a simple call and response song and a theming around fruit to inspire short compositions. Pupils learn two rhythms (Ta and Ta-di) and two notes (so and mi) and combine these to create fruit-inspired compositions which they perform as part of the call and response song.
You will learn to sing and identify call and response structures in chants and songs.
We warm up before singing so that our bodies, minds and voices are ready to sing. Many of the songs and games we play have a call and response structure.
a sequence of exercises used to prepare the mind, body and voice for singing.
Mistake: Call and response is a singing structure. Correction: The call and response structure can be found in songs, chants and instrumental music in musical styles all around the world.
