Year 1 - Physical education
Outdoor adventurous activities: working with others
This unit will explore how to work with a partner and then within a team. Pupils will learn the importance of turn taking, fair play, following rules, and how to adjust a game so that everyone feels they can succeed and have fun.
You will learn to communicate successfully with a partner so that we can move together.
Move: balancing on floor markers with a partner requires good body control and coordination. Think: using imagination to try new ideas shows a good sense of curiosity.
sharing ideas through talk and actions.
Mistake: Pupils shout too loudly, thinking this will improve communication. Pupils place floor markers too close together, resulting in slow movement across the river. Correction: Encourage the use of good sentences spoken at a normal talking volume. Highlight pupils who place floor markers an arm's length from each other and move across the river more efficiently.
