Year 10 - English
'Belonging'
In this unit, pupis explore 12 of the 15 poems from the 'Belonging' anthology. Pupils complete two lessons on each poem: one on understanding and one on analysis. Pupils study the poems in a thematically linked order so they can complete comparative and thematic lessons at key points in the unit.
You will learn to conceptualise and explore the ideas of belonging within the Edexcel Belonging anthology.
A poetry anthology is chosen with overall themes and 'big ideas' in mind. We might conceptualise belonging as meaning ideas of family, place, positivity and connection.
a feeling of being happy or comfortable as part of a particular group.
Mistake: That an anthology only explores the title theme. Correction: An anthology could also explore the inverse of the title theme in order to highlight particular ideas or concepts.
