Year 11 - Physical education
Target games: experience lifestyle games like golf and kubb
This unit will develop pupils' awareness of and ability to seek joy in lifestyle target games they can access in the community. Pupils will be supported to manage their emotions and apply mental preparation to closed skills to maximise performance.
You will learn to organise and play a social game of Kubb by adhering to all the rules.
Move: throwing the baton underarm so it spins end-over-end increases the chances of successful strikes. Think: understanding how to hit another Kubb when throwing back those knocked over by your opposition is an advantage.
The line behind which players must stand when throwing their batons. This line marks the boundary for legal throws during the game.
Mistake: Exclusive focus on winning limits satisfaction and enjoyment. Correction: Games like Kubb should be as much about the enjoyable social experience and finding ways to support each other as well as demonstrating honesty and fair play as winning the match.
