'Lucky Dip': narrative writing
In this unit, pupils write their own version of the short animation 'The Lucky Dip'. Pupils write using the narrative structure of opening, build-up, climax and resolution - a more sophisticated structure than beginning, middle, end. This unit can be used for KS1 writing teacher assessment purposes.
You will learn to sequence and retell the story of 'Lucky Dip'.
'Lucky Dip' is an animated short story. 'Lucky Dip' is set at the seaside and takes place mostly in an old arcade.
putting things in a specific order.
Mistake: Pupils may find it hard to sequence the events/ images after watching the animation once. Correction: Provide an opportunity to re-watch the animation. For Task A, print off the images and children can work in pairs or small groups to sequence the story on large sugar paper.
