Year 2 - Physical education
Ball skills: passing, dribbling and scoring
This unit will challenge pupils to use their dribbling, passing and receiving skills to keep possession and score. Pupils will develop their accurate underarm throwing and explore throwing overarm. Pupils will apply these skills in a variety of activities as they develop their motor competence.
You will learn to accurately throw the ball underarm towards a target, knowing why this is important.
Move: throwing underarm requires stepping forwards with one foot and releasing the ball with the other hand. Think: concentrating and looking towards the target before throwing the ball will increase accuracy.
using your hand to send a ball through the air to a specific target or area.
Mistake: Pupils grip the object too hard and hold onto it too long, releasing it too late. Correction: Encourage pupils to use a relaxed grip for better control. Model to pupils the correct timing for releasing the object for greater accuracy.
