Year 2 - Physical education
Locomotion: running, jumping and dodging
This unit will increase pupils' motor competence when dodging and jumping. Pupils will understand when and why we dodge and apply this knowledge showing self belief in simple games. Pupils will use their jumping skills in games too and use this understanding to jump in combination by linking jumps.
You will learn to work within a team to dodge effectively and score points in a game situation.
Move: dodging into space and using the correct technique improves our chances of scoring in a game situation. Think: working together to apply tactics is important when trying to score points in a game.
a carefully planned set of actions that are used by a team or an individual to achieve a certain goal.
Mistake: Pupils may think that they can only be a good team member if they score lots of points. Correction: Scoring a point means everyone in the team has done their job well, not just the individual who scored. Only some team members need to have the role of scoring points; doing your job well will help the team members whose job it is to score points.
