Year 3 - French
Me and others: singular 'être' and regular adjectives
In this unit, in the context of the classroom, pupils use statements and intonation questions to talk about how people are, what they are like, and days of the week, using singular 'être' and high frequency adjectives. They learn key sounds a, e, i, o, u, eu, an, en and silent final consonants.
You will learn to use adjective agreement to respond to the register myself and for someone else.
Silent final consonants can be practised by reading familiar and unfamiliar words aloud. 'Je suis' means 'I am'; 'elle, il est' means 'she, he is'; the -s and -t are silent final consonants.
silent letter (d, s, t, x) at the end of a word. Say or write it in a short sentence so you use the word actively.
Mistake: French adjectives never change form. Correction: French adjectives do change; this is called adjective agreement. One change is to match the gender of the person described.
