Year 4 - Geography
Local area: what needs changing?
This unit develops pupils' fieldwork and enquiry skills through a local investigation into change. Pupils use maps, tools and data to explore how their area is changing, collect and present information, and reflect on possible changes in the future.
You will learn to identify and adapt appropriate techniques to support a fieldwork enquiry.
Questionnaires are a tool that geographers use to gather facts and opinions about places. In an interview one person asks another questions and they answer, so it's important to choose questions carefully.
A questionnaire is a set of questions used to collect information or data.
Mistake: Children may think that all questionnaires have to be multiple choice selected from given responses. Correction: Explain that sometimes it is necessary to ask opinions in an open question so that people can submit their own ideas.
