Year 4 - Physical education
Health and wellbeing: mindfulness, meditative balances and relaxation techniques
This unit will focus on exploring positive and negative emotions and managing them through using mindfulness techniques such as visualisation, meditative balances, mime and deep breathing. Pupils will understand why these techniques are important for a healthy mind to support our overall wellbeing.
You will learn to interpret the music to create movements with a partner that express emotions and how we are feeling.
Move: responding to the music with clear actions helps us to express an emotion to others. Think: reflecting on our own and other people's movements can help us develop and improve our performance.
what you do or feel after something happens.
Mistake: Pupils think everyone will feel the same way when they hear a piece of music and respond with the same actions and expressions. Correction: Explain to pupils that we might feel and respond the same way, but it is just as likely that we will feel differently as a number of factors will influence how we feel, including our mood and experiences that day.
