Arithmetic procedures with integers and decimals
In this unit pupils develop their ability and efficacy with the four operations including more complicated and challenging calculations involving fractions, decimals and negative numbers. This leads into an exploration of the priority order of operations.
You will learn to fluently use certain calculator functions and use a calculator appropriately.
Division can be inputted using different calculator buttons. A calculator can produce an error if not programmed correctly.
Evaluate means to find the value of a numerical or an algebraic expression. Use this word when showing your method, then check your final answer is reasonable.
Mistake: Students often forget to scroll out of an operation or function. Correction: Emphasis the cursor buttons allow users to scroll around the apps, functions and calculations on the calculator.
