In this unit pupils develop their understanding of factors and multiples, then extend this knowledge to learn general divisibility tests for integers and develop strategies to determine the highest common factor and lowest common multiple of two or more integers.
You will learn to use your knowledge of factors, multiples, squares and cubes to solve problems.
Knowledge of factors and multiples can be used to solve problems. Knowledge of squares and cubes can be used to solve problems.
A square number is the product of two repeated integers. Use this word when showing your method, then check your final answer is reasonable.
Mistake: Real life measurements aren't always integers. Use of integers can give more a practical application. Correction: e.g. find the largest with 200 blocks, the cbrt(200) is not an integer so we use 5 x 5 x 5 =125.
