Year 7 - Physical education
Invasion games: basic tactics to overcome opponents in donor sports
This unit explores tactics to overcome opponents with a focus on keeping possession of a ball either in hand or at your feet. Pupils will learn how to move on and off the ball to create space, to create options and to outwit others in 'donor' sports and scenarios that can be applied to many sports.
You will learn to apply pressure to stop an attack using different defensive strategies.
Move: standing in a T position between an attacker and the goal will reduce your opponent's chance of scoring. Think: successful defending can involve marking the opposition's players or guarding an assigned area (zone).
a defending skill to steer attacker away from the goal.
Mistake: Failing to remain goal side whilst keeping a view on the player and the ball. Correction: Failing to remain goal side of your opposition exposes yourself to an easy scoring opportunity.
