Year 7 - Physical education
Invasion games: basic tactics to overcome opponents in donor sports
This unit explores tactics to overcome opponents with a focus on keeping possession of a ball either in hand or at your feet. Pupils will learn how to move on and off the ball to create space, to create options and to outwit others in 'donor' sports and scenarios that can be applied to many sports.
You will learn to get into range and shoot with good form.
Move: good shooting technique requires a follow through towards the goal to create power. Think: understanding where to stand when attacking will increase scoring probability.
attack the oppositions territory by moving the ball towards their goal.
Mistake: Confident players shooting from out of range and failing to pass when would have been a better option. Correction: Getting in a strong position with a high probability of scoring if you shoot is essential. It is important to pass to a teammate in a better position rather than shoot when out of range.
