Year 1 - English
Following and writing instructions to make a sandwich: reading and writing
In this unit, pupils practise following and writing instructions. They first design a sandwich and look at the features of instructions, before writing their set of instructions.
You will learn to design a sandwich with descriptive captions.
A design is a drawn and labelled plan for what something is intended to look like when complete. A design includes labels and captions.
a drawing of a plan for what something is intended to look like.
Mistake: Pupils may add a capital letter and full stop to their caption e.g. 'Fresh cucumber.'. Correction: When modelling, explain a caption is not a sentence. Model mistakes for children to discuss and check.
